Preparing People with Disabilities: What may you be missing?

People with disabilities, of all ages, are one of the most vulnerable populations that are most likely to be adversely affected in an emergency or natural disaster. This presentation provides a train the trainer session to obtain the skills to educate others on preparing individuals with disabilities in a disaster. Topics include: how an emergency can affect a person’s abilities, developing personal contact list, putting together disability specific kits, preparing service animals, and developing evacuation plans. Upon completion of the session, participants have the opportunity to obtain materials to conduct future trainings.
